Why therapy? Why now?
Our stories may be dissimilar, yet our feelings are the same.
You tell me you are anxious, almost to the point of panic. You tell me you are depressed, overwhelmed, and stressed out.
You say you’re exhausted, repeating the same behaviors with the same uncaring people. You say you’re feeling stuck in a relationship, or in a job.
I know those feelings.
I work with people just like you, people ready to look at why they continue to act the way they do, over and over again.
I have over 30 years of professional experience in private practice. I can help by offering my individual attention in a personalized way. Sitting down to conversation. Listening. Building a relationship. Finding trust.
This is what I know how to do — to see you and to hear you. How you feel matters.
What would you like me to know about yourself?
Therapy is not just about techniques and theories, but about the genuine connection between therapist and client.

How I Help
It is a challenge to capture in words how sitting with an experienced clinician brings about change. There are no shortcuts, no tricks. No secret formula or gimmick.
It is the human to human connection alone, building trust, that is transformational. This is how I work.
A healing relationship takes time, attention and care. It takes openness and empathy, with small, shared personal acts rooted in sincerity and honesty. Building a substantive relationship involves spontaneity, creativity, a sense of humor and play. A secure relationship is founded on trust.
I have extensive experience in specific clinical practices, but therapy at its core is simply showing up for one another with your willingness to feel better, to be better. The experience of feeling truly seen, heard and understood is the catalyst for healing.
Slowly, as I help to remove obstacles from your way, we can share the exhilaration of life.
Hi, I’m Susan.
Thank you for taking time to explore my site. I hope I can help.
I hold a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy, followed by over thirty years of private clinical practice in Santa Monica, California.
While my work involves a variety of classical therapeutic techniques, the heart of my approach is the simple but strong connection that comes from talk. Therapy is fundamentally an open conversation in a safe, supportive place.
Every client is different, so a successful therapist must tailor their therapeutic approach to the individual. First we build a personal connection. This is where we start.
